- 01DC Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) regulates mold assessors under 20 DCMR Chapter 32.
- 02Eligibility pathway 1 (IICRC): Hold both IICRC AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician) and WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician). AMRT is a 4-day in-person course; WRT is a prerequisite.
- 03Eligibility pathway 2 (CIH): Hold the AIHA Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential.
- 04Eligibility pathway 3 (Education + Experience): Relevant degree in environmental science, biology, or a related field + 3 years of documented mold assessment field experience.
- 05$300 initial license fee; $105 renewal fee. License term is 2 years.
- 06Insurance: $1,000,000 general liability + errors & omissions coverage required.
- 07Regulatory citation: 20 DCMR §§ 3200–3215.
